People's Warden

Brenda McRae

The People's Warden is elected at the annual general meeting by the parishioners.

The People's Warden acts as liaison working in cooperation with the Incumbent, parish community, and Diocese.

"With all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, making every effort to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace." Ephesians 4:2-3

Rector's Warden

Verna Gamache

The Rector's Warden is appointed by the Incumbent.

The Rector's Warden shares directly in leadership of the parish community, along with the Incumbent and Bishop.

This position is of volunteer status, and requires a very dedicated and committed person.

St. George's Wakefield was established in 1904 by dedicated and hard working pioneers. Today, many of our members are descendants of those pioneers, and are involved in the operation and maintenance of the church. Life goes on at St. George's Wakefield thanks to many volunteers and generous donors.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life." John 3:16

Treasurer

Joan Wilkinson

There are four funds available for donations:

  1. The General Fund - main fund which pays the monthly bills.
  2. The Memorial Fund - set-up for donations made in memory of a loved one and entered into the Memorial Book. This fund is used for special purposes.
  3. The Building Fund - This fund is used for major church repairs and maintenance.
  4. Cemetery Fund - This fund is used for the upkeep of the lovely cemetery grounds.
The St. George Anglican Church Wakefield Endowment Fund was officially established in March of 2013 and is designed to support the Church’s mission today and forever. Donations can be made by contacting the Selkirk & District Community Foundation (phone: 204-785-9755, email: selkirkfoundation@shaw.ca), or ask church member Bev Clegg for more details. Together the St. George Anglican Church Wakefield and Selkirk & District Community Foundation are “Here for Good”. Please consider donations for the following events; in memory of a loved one, Birthday or Anniversary gifts for the person who has everything, or as a bequest / gift in your will. We need to prepare today for the future tomorrow.

Thanks you for your interest in keeping the doors open to our beautiful and blessed church.

"Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not rely on your own insight. In all you ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths." Proverbs 3: 5-6
