Altar Guild

Gladys Aime & Gail Charlo

The Alter Guild purchases wine, wafers and candles. The Alter Guild also changes the banners and linens according to the church season and special services, and ensures that the church is clean and tidy.

The Altar Guild designated members each month for Altar duty which includes preparing the wine and wafers for the Sunday service.

"For God is not unjust; he will not overlook your work and the love that you showed for his sake in serving the saints, as you still do." Hebrews 6:10

The St. George's Wakefield parishioners work tirelessly from one project to another, and are committed to helping those in need.

"And God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that by always having enough of everything, you may share abundantly in every good work." 2 Corinthians 9:8

Music

Verna Gamache, Coordinator

The music cooridnator is a volunteer church member who coordinates songs and hymns for Sunday and special services. CD's are often used as a fill-in but St.George's Wakefield is blessed to have young artists with musical abilities. Three of our young people who provide music are: Avery Eramchuk, Réal Jolicoeur, and Jana Charlo.

"Sing to God, sing praises to his name; lift up a song to him who rides upon the clouds, His name is the LORD - be exultant before him." Psalm 68:4

Worship Commitee

Gloria White, Chairperson

The Worship Committee consists of four members. The Committee meets four times a year with our sister church St. Clement Mapleton and plan services.

The Committee works closely with the Altar Guild, and is responsible for the church bulletin, scheduling readers and other things pertaining to the services.

Along with our regular Sunday service other special services include:

  • Petersfield Mallard Park (an outdoor service followed by a pot luck lunch)
  • Outdoor Candlelight Churchyard service (evening service in memory of those who have passed during the year)
  • Seder Service on Maundry Thursday
  • Advent Festival of Lessons and Carols
  • Woodland Courts (third Wednesday of each month)

"If you continue in my word, you are truly my disciples; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free." John 8:31-32

Young People's Association (YPA)

Rhonda Jolicoeur

St. George's Wakefield has an active Young People's Association (YPA). The purpose of this committee is to encompass directing Sunday School; Youth Group; Younger Generation Services; and organizing fundraising and social events.

In 2011 we held serveral fundraising events such as: Music Concert, Youth Car Wash, Golf Tournament, Fishing Derby, and Halloween Social. For the Holiday Season we offered personalized music CD's.

Prior to Christmas a group of young people go door-to-door caroling. This is always a fun event, with warm hot chocolate and treats as a nightcap.

Sunday School runs from October to mid December. The children have a Christmas pageant and decorate the Sunday School tree. Sunday School resumes mid January to late May.

We are always looking for creative social events or fundraisers to host and would love to have new members. If you would like to join our group please contact Rhonda @ 738-4502.

Come out and experience the passion of our young people of St. George's Wakefield!

"Shun youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart." 2 Timothy 2:22
